It is good to praise the LORD, to sing praise to Your name, Most High Psalm 92:1

Music Ministry
Although music itself is not specifically listed as a spiritual gift within the Bible, it is an avenue whereby spiritual gifts can be expressed.  Through music we can witness and proclaim the Gospel, through music we can minister to broken hearts, through music we offer messages of prophecy and exaltation, and through music we can encourage and strengthen others in their walk of faith.

Music is one of the primary languages of Worship within the Church.  Music unites us in praise and focuses our hearts and minds on our God and His son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Highland Baptist offers a number of opportunities for its members to utilize their musical talents in expressing their spiritual gifts.

Adult Choir
Adult choir meets for rehearsal each Wednesday at 6PM.  Adult choir members serve as worship leaders for our weekly 10:30 AM Worship service.

Throughout the church year, Adult choir works on seasonal presentations designed to challenge the church to appreciate the spiritual significance of the season. Our celebrations of Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving, are deepened by the seasonal presentations of the Adult Choir.

Worship Teams
Highland Baptist utilizes worship teams to lead in our early Acclaim service each Sunday at 8:15 AM.  This worship service leans toward the contemporary and utilizes CD music from various Christian artists of the day. Worship teams meet at various times throughout each month for planning and rehearsing.

Adult Ensemble
A smaller ensemble of Adult singers meets on Sunday Evenings at 5PM for rehearsal.  The Adult Ensemble supports the seasonal worship opportunities of the church through special musical presentations.

Singspiration Service; Fifth Sunday Sing
Sunday evening worship in months that have a fifth Sunday are set aside as special musical service featuring Highland’s members sharing prepared selections.  Members may sing solos, or in groups, or share instrumental selections, or devotional readings in this informal time of worship.  Singspriation services are always a meaningful time of worship as our membership shares from their hearts songs, scriptures, or devotional thoughts that have encouraged them.

Children and Youth ChoirMusic for Preschoolers, Children, and Youth:
Preschoolers, children, and youth, meet for music education at various times throughout the year.  Typically Preschoolers and Children meet in Children’s choir on Wednesdays during the fall of the year.  While Youth meet on Sunday evenings to work on special presentations for the Church.

One week of the each summer is designated as Children’s Music Week and another week is designated as Youth Music Week.  During these weeks children and youth are led in mounting a musical production to share with the Church.  These weeks offer children and youth the opportunity to express themselves musically and to contribute to the proclamation of the Gospel through their presentations.

In addition, we encourage youth who are musically talented to meet and work on selections for presentation in our worship services.
