David Head
Pastor:
David Head

David Head is a husband, dad, friend, pastor, teacher, theologian, thinker, writer, reader, musician, runner and avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.  But mostly, he is simply a disciple of Jesus Christ who continues to be stunned by the power of the gospel and amazed by the sweetness of grace. His life goal is to make much of Jesus by following Him with passion and helping as many people as possible know, love and center their lives in Him.

David believes that the gospel-saturated local church is central to God’s mission in the world.  A graduate of New Orleans Seminary, for over 20 years he has served as pastor of congregations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.  He began serving as Pastor with the people of Highland Baptist Church in Shelbyville, KY in January of 2010.

A native Kentuckian, David has been married for 29 years to his best friend, Paula. Paula has served as a Bible teacher and in music and worship ministries, and often mentors younger women. She loves photography and scrap-booking.  From 2001-2006, she served as director of the Benevolence Center at First Baptist, Leesburg, FL, a pioneer in gospel-based community ministries of mercy.

Their son Drew is a student at Boyce College in Louisville and serves as Youth Minister at Trinity Baptist Church in Lexington, KY.  In addition the Heads share their home with Samson the Wonder Dog—a 70-lb Lab!

Pastor David writes a blog at PONDER ANEW (come join the conversation!) and is available on FACEBOOK® as well.
